Ray 4.0.12 Beta 1 is now available
Ray 4.0.12 Beta 1 improves subtitle workflows, website downloads, Ray Local setup, Studio, and general Windows reliability.
Subtitles
-
Resume unfinished or cancelled subtitles directly from the selected language in Cinema, including after reopening a video.
-
Switch subtitle languages without transcribing the video again when Ray has saved the original-language transcript.
-
Translation preparation now runs in the background to keep the interface responsive.
-
Disable Search OpenSubtitles first when you want Ray to create subtitles without checking online sources first.
-
Default-language and watch-folder pickers now support regional language variants.

Regenerate now describes potential subtitle improvements without incorrectly promising a better model.
-
Sunlight selects the most accurate local speech and language models that fit the device.
-
Subtitle timing is more resilient when complete word timing is unavailable.
-
Set a default subtitle language and global subtitle filename template.
-
Studio can synchronize an existing subtitle file without regenerating or translating it.

Quiet dialogue is less likely to be missed during fallback transcription and subtitle matching.
-
Downloaded AI models can be reviewed and removed from Settings.
Cinema

New videos begin with subtitles off.

Ray remembers the subtitle selection, including Off, separately for each video.

Website downloads show progress, speed, and estimated time remaining.

Recent sessions can be managed more easily.

Model-download progress and estimated processing time are clearer.

Existing subtitle files can be synchronized without recreating their text.

Ray can select a model-storage drive with enough free space, and the drive can be changed in Settings.
-
GPU selection is applied more consistently across Cinema and Studio.
-
Model-download cancellation and reuse provide clearer progress.
-
Quit now exits Ray completely, with an optional confirmation.
-
The installer, updater, desktop shortcut, command-line tools, and crash diagnostics have been strengthened.

Known issue
Some older, low-VRAM, or hybrid-GPU systems may incorrectly report that the GPU is unavailable during local subtitle creation. Ray Cloud or a lighter local model can be used as a temporary workaround. A correction is planned for the next update.
Thank you to everyone testing Ray and sharing diagnostics. Your reports continue to help us improve each release.
