This release is a big reliability pass for on‑device subtitles, smarter use of your graphics card, and a few new conveniences. You can update from Settings → App updates.
New
- Keep watching without interruptions - the screen saver and display sleep no longer kick in while a video is playing (Windows, macOS and Linux).
- Read e‑books - Ray now opens EPUB files, and it’s easier to find your videos, audio and books in one place.
Stability
- Fixed crashes that could close Ray when starting on‑device subtitles on some computers.
- Ray now keeps running if a graphics driver misbehaves while detecting your hardware, instead of closing.
- Fixed a case where subtitle translation could start and then never finish.
- Ray recovers from a graphics glitch by switching to a safe display mode, and rides out a temporary service outage instead of failing.
On‑device subtitles
- If a needed file arrives damaged, Ray fetches a fresh copy automatically (up to three tries) and tells you it’s retrying - instead of a confusing “not enough space” message.
- Fixed an endless “Setting up subtitles” loop on slower drives and when antivirus scans files during download.
- Ray recovers through a difficult passage that would previously have been dropped, tells you when a result came out incomplete, and the progress bar no longer sticks near 65%.
Better subtitles
- Fixed subtitles that could come out in the wrong alphabet (e.g. English words in Arabic script).
- Re‑timing a subtitle to match the audio now works reliably, including across languages.
- Cleaner one‑line captions and more accurate timing; higher coverage in Extended quality.
- Studio “Embedded subtitles” works again.
Your graphics card
- On laptops with both a built‑in and a dedicated card, Ray now reliably uses the more powerful one.
- Smarter memory use so subtitle steps don’t run out of graphics memory on smaller cards, with an automatic fall back that keeps the job going.
- AMD and Intel cards are now used for subtitles where they previously fell back to the processor.
- New live GPU and memory gauges in the dashboard.
Plans, providers & sign‑in
- Ray shows whether a subtitle job will run on your device or in Ray Cloud, and nudges you back to on‑device when your computer can handle it.
- Plans without Ray Cloud now run subtitles on your device instead of a confusing Cloud error.
- New Nearby and Email sign‑in options, sign in from a nearby phone or TV, and a calmer first‑launch experience.
Managing models & community
- Remove every downloaded model in one step; fixed a false “drive isn’t connected” message.
- Report an unsupported website and request it from the community, right inside Ray.
As always, thanks for the reports - a lot of this release came straight from them. ![]()
